The second pillar of REMAR is based on the School of Discipleship. In October of 2010,we started the first edition of the School for Disciples in REMAR Ghana at our headquarters in Dansoman. Today, we are into the second edition with seventeen (17) persons who are tutored in all the necessary requirements of a good disciple of Jesus Christ.
The school of discipleship responds to the great mission that the Lord Jesus Christ gave to his disciples: Matthew 28:19,"Go ye through all the nations and make disciples, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit". Today, this same call is upon us. Multitudes of persons are in need of aid in the hospitals, in the prisons, in the ghettos, and in families. The harvest is large but the laborers are few.
In lieu of this deficit, the students are submitted to a program of formation after which they are ready to confront the difficulties encountered in the life of a missionary in community. During this school, questions such as: What is REMAR? How does it work? What does it do?, are addressed and clarified.
The students come from Benin, Togo, Nigeria, Cote d'Ivoire and Burkina Faso. The teachers are men and women who have chosen to sacrifice for the work: they have profound knowledge on life in community and the structure of REMAR. The themes addressed at the school include Evangelization, Discipleship, Social Work, Economy of the Kingdom. The leaders of the disciple school control the execution and time-table of the program. It is important to note that it is based on a strict order, rigor and discipline. The school is for 3 months. Periodic evaluation permits us to test what we have been taught. Once the school is ended, the disciples become humble and obedient servants of Jesus Christ.
They are ready to sacrifice their lives serving in difficult and inaccessible regions, war-torn areas, where there is famine and sickness. The disciples are ready to deny and to renounce everything and put their hands on the plough without looking back, with their eyes steadily fixed on Jesus. They place all their talents at the disposal of the Community. It is good to say: Luke 6:40 "the disciple is not above his master but the disciple accomplishes just as his master".
