AGRICUTURAL AND ANIMAL FARMING PROGRAMS

Many young people in Remar Ghana, are taught how to cultivate corn, cassava, plantain, cocoa, and are then able to put their experience into practice in new farms ,thus multiplying the production for the supply of food to the centers.

Apprentices learn how to rear farm animals, and are then able to rear them in the new centers and farms that we open, and also to teach others the skills they have already acquired. In this way we can extend this important work over different regions of the country.

FREE MEAL CENTRES FOR  STREET CHILDREN AND PRISONERS

Remar Ghana cannot remain impassive to the situation of hunger which exists in some parts of the country which are characterized by extreme poverty and need. The free meals program brings help to the least favored sector of society: the elderly, children, prisoners, etc.

In (Nsawam Pakro) hunger and poverty are the villagers worst enemies, thus free meals centers have been set up in some of the most needy areas.

In (Ho) there is a free meal centre especially for sick children, and deprived children.

In (Kumasi Apabame) many children from the streets are fed daily. We serve daily meals to the elderly and to single mothers and their children from the streets. Above all, the children require our special attention.

In Accra, which is the capital of Ghana, we have a lot of street children who go around begging for money and food in order to find their daily sustenance. Many of these children find themselves becoming delinquent , faced with the extreme need to find food to take to their homes.

The work we do through the free meals centers helps these groups of children, because it prevents them getting into deeper problems like drugs, teenage pregnancy, prostitution, armed robbery and even end up in juvenile centers.

EDUCTIONAL PROGRAMS (SCHOOL)

The social-economic situation to be found in the majority of the developing countries have multiple consequences, and this can be reflected clearly in the sector of education. In these countries the level of illiteracy is extremely high, and the educational system in general is of a low quality and coverage.

The state schools are insufficient in number for the very high child population, and in many cases their standards do not satisfy the requirements of a basic education. Private profit-making schools provide a very expensive alternative, but the monthly payments they demand are beyond the economic means of the majority of the population.

Association took the initiative to create our own schools, which do not only solve the problem of education for the children living in our homes, but also, at the same time form a strategic plan to benefit the school-age population in the areas where REMAR is functioning. Remar Ghana has Plans to open a school in (Pakro- Nsawam) where about 300 children will go to school free of charge.

PROGRAMS TO ASSIST CHILDREN

Children are one sector of the population most vulnerable to the social and economic problems that are prevalent particularly in the Third World countries.

Remar Ghana has programs to assist children which are carried out in our centers, where the basic needs of the child are met:[shelter, food, clothing, education, recreation, etc.], and where we can ensure that they grow up in a favorable environment.

To these homes come abandoned children, children of single mothers, and those who need to live apart from their parents because of circumstances of extreme exigencies. Our first objective is to provide their parental needs, and so the children are cared for by married couples or elderly monitors who can create an ideal family situation, showing them love and affection, and also the necessary guidance and discipline.

Once the child has become settled, and through means of personal follow-up, we integrate them into the educational system, if they are of school age, or into the other vocational programs of the centre.

PROGROMS TO ASSIST YOUNG PEOPLE

We consider we have a social obligation towards young people, so that in those areas where circumstances have robbed them of assistance, they can be compensated and be offered the same opportunities as those who have been more fortunate.

Any program must give all-round teaching and a complete training so that the young person can feel settled and be able to develop his own personality. Some young people, who are faced with extreme poverty and lack of resources, find themselves unable to enjoy certain kinds of leisure activities, and this leads them to seek quick and relatively easy ways of acquiring money.

Our association does what it can to take these young people off the streets, thus avoiding their committing crimes, and also offers them alternative activities. Remar Ghana offers the following workshops all over thecountry for professional training so that the youth can acquire a dignified trade or skill that allows them to face up to the demands of society.

PROGROMS TO ASSIST WOMEN

After making a sincere analysis of social reality, we came to the conclusion that women, on the whole, are in a more difficult situation than men, and this, obviously, can be observed more acutely in circumstances of poverty or social crisis.

We have created a network of centers for women at risk: single mothers, widows, and destitute women. including those who are suffering abuse or are in a difficult family situation, those with problems of prostitution, and also those who come out of prison and have no decent place to go.

Our Association endeavors to promote training for these women, making available to them the different programs of professional training, such as sewing workshops where they learn to make clothes, sheets, tablecloths and curtains to sell in REMAR shops. They also help at the Parkro Farm in Nsawam where they prepare (Gari) and cassava dough to support all the REMAR communities in Ghana.

REMAR PRISON MINISTRY

Imprisoned in disastrous conditions, where men, rats and cockroaches, just like a gutter, gather and live to gather. REMAR, Christian rehabilitation center for aid to the marginalized of society, appears as a light in the darkness to these prisoners. In their deplorable cells of incarceration, without water, without clothes, food is a rarity of the utmost importance. Health is precarious and death comes to liberate the flesh from pain and lead the soul to the eternal fire of hell, because they never heard speak of Jesus.

Thus, on the majestic pillar of Social Work, Remar Ghana comes to address and implant in Nsawam Prison, to place a barrier on this route where the children of God are ensnared by drugs, hunger, prostitution, bandits and poverty. Today, by the help of God and through men of goodwill for the love of their neighbor, REMAR Ghana has put in place a program to assist prisoners, named REMAR PRISON MINISTRY

FEAST OF JERUSALEM

The idea came from REMAR Cote d'Ivoire which recognized that there did not exist a platform for children to play and interact. Through the annual congress adults had this opportunity. That is why, at the level of children, the Feast of Jerusalem was initiated for children throughout REMAR WEST AFRICA to assemble, rejoice, share experiences, demonstrate their talents, and also to travel. It is a feast created especially for children, as we realized that they are a source of blessing and joy to us the parents. Thus, in 2004,this project was concretized for the first time, and has been held, once, annually in the preceding years. The premier edition was staged in Anyama (12km from Abidjan). In 2006,the Master, Jesus placed in our hearts to organize this feast in the farm at Attingue. This feast assembles children from REMAR WEST AFRICA, including (Burkina Faso, Ghana, Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Niger, Mali, Cameroun and Cote d'Ivoire), numbering about 400 participants. It is organized in the form of a festive occasion with sporting, cultural and spiritual activities, moments of theatre and music, evening evangelization programs, and ends with a church service filled with actions of grace. It is joy to behold the children engrossed and happy in the three days of the feast of Jerusalem. Happy to say, the children of Remar Ghana won the 2008 football gala and placed third in the recent 2010 edition. They were presented with a trophy, medals and gifts. To these gallant warriors who made us proud we say, KUDOS.AYEKOO!!! The next edition will be organized in 2011 and we hope they bring home the ultimate trophy in football and GOD RICHLY BLESS YOU.
